game by losing 7-1 to San Francisco in the opening
Posted by: Bellroll33 - 20-08-2019, 04:30 PM - Forum: General Light Novels - No Replies

All championship experiences in sports are not created equal. When a team is a pre-season favourite, or spends the most money, or is stacked with the best players in the game, its never quite as special. This is why the Kansas City Royals, who finally dropped a post-season game by losing 7-1 to San Francisco in the opening game of the World Series Tuesday night, have a chance to go down in baseball history as one of the more remarkable champions of this generation. Already the Royals have made winning look more fun than anyone else in sports. The Royals don’t just celebrate like millionaire athletes. They have that pinch-me-I-can’t-believe-this-is-happening-and-it-reminds-me-of-what-it-felt-like-to-be-a-kid-again kind of fun. They buy rounds of drinks for their fans in bars after games, they have a player who gave out playoff tickets to a fan on Twitter and agreed to go to dinner with him. It’s become fashionable in sports for players to place winning championships above all else in sports. The standard answer as to where an athlete should want to play? Why wherever gives him the best chance to win a championship, of course. Teams such as the New York Yankees have used that selling point since the dawn of free agency in the 1970s, with baseball’s other big spenders such as the Angels, Boston, or the Dodgers also opening their wallets to do what some might call invest in talent, and what others might call buy a winner. Even in a salary cap league like the NBA, we saw The Big Three Found set things up, not just so that they would be able to play together, but so they could win a string of championships. That’s what it was all about and to a degree it worked. But the thrill of victory is never what it could be when one celebrates the accomplishments of a team that had the deck stacked in its favour before the season even began. The Heat winning two championships was maybe good for the NBA. But there was hardly anything magical about it, no sense of witnessing something that made you remember where you were when… It’s just a fact of life that the greatest celebrations in sports are always those that seem the least likely, the emotional energy inversely proportional to the likelihood of it occurring, for both participants and spectators. The greatest celebration I can recall ever seeing in sports? Probably the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team in what became known as the “miracle on ice,” a scene that appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine without a headline. The scene simply spoke for itself. The Royals aren’t quite that kind of story but their journey thus far does feel different. There’s a little more unbridled joy, a little more enjoy-it-while-it-lasts. Yes the Royals remind us that even in professional sports, there are different degrees of joy. Ashley Young Jersey . The Kelowna, B.C. rink made the announcement on their facebook page on Thursday night. David Beckham Jersey . Pospisil, the seventh seed, saved match points in each of the last two sets before falling to the unseeded Dutchman. "I wasnt very happy with the way I was playing,"said Pospisil. http://www.englandsoccerpro.com/Ashley-Young-England-Jersey/ . A wide-eyed 18-year-old visiting North America for only the second time in his young life, Caboclo immediately noticed the "big tower" his new home is best known for. Jack Butland Jersey . "It was awesome," he said. Coming off an ugly three-game sweep at the hands of the Yankees, Toronto found itself in a deep hole early after the Reds put an eight spot up on starter Liam Hendriks (six runs in 1 2/3 innings pitched) and Todd Redmond in the second. David Beckham England Jersey .C. - Nick Merkley and Damon Severson each had a goal and two assists as the Kelowna Rockets downed the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3 on Saturday in Western Hockey League playoff action.LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Chicago Bears have agreed to a one-year contract with running back Shaun Draughn. Draughn has appeared in 20 games over three seasons with Kansas City (2011-12) and Baltimore (2013), collecting 235 yards and two touchhdowns.dddddddddddd. He has 158 yards receiving to go with 590 yards on 25 kickoff returns. He also spent part of the 2013 season with Indianapolis but did not appear in a game for the Colts. The Bears announced the move on Wednesday. ' ' '

solved a hole in the Barclays Center roof
Posted by: Bellroll33 - 20-08-2019, 04:24 PM - Forum: General Light Novels - No Replies

Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Workers solved a hole in the Barclays Center roof on Tuesday, but the Brooklyn Nets never recovered from the one they dug themselves against the Miami Heat. Dwyane Wade scored 28 points, Luol Deng added 18 and the Heat held off a late Nets rally en route to a 95-91 victory. The game was delayed 31 minutes late in the first quarter due to a leakage in the arenas ceiling. The Heat were in the midst of a 10-0 run, and they never relinquished the lead the rest of the way. Brooklyn trailed by 10 with just over a minute to play, but two free throws from Mason Plumlee and 3-pointers from Joe Johnson and Bojan Bogdanovic cut the deficit to 93-91 with 35.1 seconds remaining. The Nets forced Wade into a contested 3-pointer that drew iron, and Deng gained position on the block for the rebound over Bogdanovic, who was whistled for a foul with 11.8 ticks left. Deng made both free throws and Miami successfully bounced back from Sundays 18-point home loss to Chicago. To me this is one of the most gratifying wins of the season. To be able to pull it out shows a lot character and toughness, Wade said. Plumlee had a team-high 21 points with nine rebounds in the loss, while Deron Williams finished with 15 points and 11 assists. Play was stopped with 1:47 remaining in the opening frame after water began dripping in front of the Nets bench. Towels and trash cans were used as temporary fixes. and both teams retreated to the locker room when there was no quick resolution. The arenas Twitter feed released the following explanation: Tonights delay was caused by a water leak due to the installation of our new green roof. Weve taken all necessary steps to rectify. The Heat were leading 24-21 at the time, and when played resumed, the lead grew to 28-21 following four Mario Chalmers free throws. Miami was ahead 55-45 at halftime, and it was still a 10-point game, 76-66, heading to the fourth. Williams scored on consecutive possessions to pull the Nets within 87-83 with 3:17 remaining but turned the ball over the next two times down the floor. Six straight Miami points stretched the margin back to double digits at 93-83. Game Notes The Heat were without star forward Chris Bosh (calf) for a second straight game ... Wade played through a stomach virus ... Miami opens a seven-game homestand Wednesday against the Jazz ... Johnson netted 16 points. Andre Dawson Jersey . In the days leading up to the draft, TSN.ca and TSN Radio basketball analyst Duane Watson looks at some of the names that will be headlining the event. Tonight, Michigans Nik Stauskas of Mississauga, Ontario. Kyle Hendricks Cubs Jersey . - Rookie Tesho Akindele scored three goals and Fabian Castillo added two in FC Dallas 5-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night. http://www.cubsauthentic.com/cubs-brad-brach-jersey/ . Vincent Lamar Carter is no longer the lean, athletic dynamo who dazzled Raptors fans with eye-popping dunks that posterized even the leagues best defenders. Brad Brach Cubs Jersey . The Oilers jumped into the free agent market early by signing defencemen Keith Aulie (six-foot-six, 228 pounds) and Mark Fayne (6-3, 210 pounds) and left-winger Benoit Pouliot (6-3, 197-pounds). Two days earlier MacTavish traded lightweight forward Sam Gagner to Tampa Bay for 6-3, 203-pound right winger Ted Purcell. Billy Williams Cubs Jersey . He made that dream a reality Wednesday night. Olt, who grew up in Branford, Connecticut, attended UConn and made a nearly 2 1-2 hour trek to Boston a handful of times to watch the Red Sox, belted a two-run homer, one of four hit by Cubs in a 16-9 rout that completed a three-game interleague series sweep. All Geroy Simon wanted was the chance to play. The native of Johnstown, Pa., knew little about the CFL in 1999 when he joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as a rookie free agent. Fourteen years later, Simon is close to leaving his mark as the most prolific receiver in league history. Simon, 38, already the CFLs all-time receiving yards later, needs just six catches to eclipse Ben Cahoons career mark of 1,017. And the Saskatchewan Roughriders veteran slotback can break the record Sunday night against his former team, the B.C. Lions. "I didnt know much about the CFL when I came up here, I had bounced around the NFL and felt like I wasnt getting a fair shot," Simon said Wednesday during a conference call. "I just wanted to go somewhere where I was going to have an opportunity to play and I know if I got a true opportunity that I would do well. "Obviously I didnt think Id be No. 1 in the history of a league thats over 100 years old . . . when I first got here and looked at the record book and saw Allen Pitts (at 14,891 career yards) I just hoped to have just one 1000-yard season. I just wanted to play football no matter if it was north or south of the border, I just wanted a true opportunity to be a professional and show I can do it and at a high level." The six-foot-two, 198-pound Simon is just one of three players in league history to accumulate over 1,000 career catches -- Cahoon and Terry Vaughn are the others -- and has amassed 16,128 yards and 103 TDs over his illustrious 15-year CFL career. "Ben and I have been friends for a long time," Simon said. "He was a great player in this league and Im honoured to have an opportunity to break a record of such a legendary player." And if Simon scores a touchdown against B.C., hell strike his traditional Superman pose. "Of course," he said. "I feel fans expect that and its something Ive done throughout my career. "It wont change since Im playing B.C." Simon spent his first two CFL seasons with Winnipeg before signing with B.C. as a free agent following the 2000 campaign. Simons career took off with the Lions with six league all-star nominations and two Grey Cup titles (2006, 11). Simon also captured the CFLs outstanding player honour in 06 after registering 105 catches for 1,856 yards and 15 TDs, all career highs. Simon was a model of consistency with B.C., registering nine straight 1,000-yard seasons. But he missed five games with hamstring injuries last year and was limited to 54 catches for 700 yards and two TDs. Once the 2012 campaign ended, Simon was open to restructuring his contract with B.C. but had said if the club didnt want him back hed look at playing elsewhere. Lions GM Wally Buono gave Simon and his camp permission to gauge interest in a potential trade, and on Jan. 24 the veteran was dealt to Saskatchewan for receiver Justin Harper and a 2014 third-round draft pick. An upper body injury forced Simon to miss Saskatchewans first three regular-season games. But when he joined the starting lineup, Simons role was to mentor and complement young guns Chris Getzlaf, Weston Dressler and Taj Smith while providing a veteran presence and leadership. "I think I bring a presence in the locker-room and on the sideline," Simon said. "I think I have a voice a lot of people will listen to because of the success Ive had in the past . . . a lot of younger players come to me for my leadership. "I give my opinion when needed and I think its been working out pretty well because I do it in subtle way at times that maybe people dont understand but the message gets through." Simon has registered just one 100-yard game this season, recording five catches for 125 yards and a TD in a 32-20 road win over Hamilton on July 27. Three times Simon has finished with five receptions in a contest, but has had two or less in the other five. On Saturday, Simon faces his former B.C. teammates for the first time since the trade. Simon, who turned 38 last week, had five catches for 69 yards in last weekends 31-29 loss to Toronto and has 23 receptions for 341 yards and three TDs this season. But Simon has nothing to prove against the Lions. "Im excited for the week, I get to see some guys Ive not seen in a long time," he said. "As cliche as it sounds, I have to treat this as any other game once it gets going. "Ill be excited and ready to go just because Ill be playing against guys I practised against the last 10-to-12 years and have the opportunity to play against and try to get a win." Theres certainly plenty on the line as Saskatchewan (8-3) and B.C. (7-4) chase front-running Calgary (9-2) in the West Division. Its also the first of three head-to-head meetings between the Riders -- whove lost two straight -- and Lions with that being the tie-breaker should they end the season tied in the standings. "Any time you play a divisional opponent its huge," Simon said. "I know B.C. gets stronger during the year and thats one thing were trying to do. "This is going to be a huge game and Im really looking forward to it. It happens to be against my old team. Im not worried about who the opponent is, I just want to go out and win.&qquot; Simon says hes enjoyed playing in Regina, a football-mad city with no shortage of diehard fans who are rabid in their support of the Riders.dddddddddddd "I wanted to play football in a place where football was king," he said. "At times you cant go anywhere and hide . . . but at the same time people give you your space here. "This is one of the warmest places Ive ever been with people willing to help and just doing things for you. It has been an amazing experience to this point." And it seems Riders fans will see a lot more of Simon. He intends on playing through the 2014 season before sitting down and determining his football future. "Coming into my professional career I was on a 10-year plan and wouldve been happy just to play 10 years," he said. "Once I got to 10, I felt I was just getting going and starting to hit that momentum. "I think Ive got a lot left in the tank and feel I still have a lot I can do in this league." With the NBA playoffs set to tip off this weekend, fans of the Toronto Raptors will be digging deep into their pockets to watch their team play in person. According to Forbes Magazine, the Raptors have raised their average ticket price by 242 per cent from $108 during the regular season to $370 for the first round. The average increase of the 16 playoff teams is 105 per cent. They also have the third-lowest number of tickets on the secondary tier, with just over 2,000 tickets available. Raptors fans have not seen a playoff game in Toronto since 2007-08 and the team has not advanced to the second round since the 2000-01 campaign. The Indiana Pacers have the second-highest markup on playoff tickets at 211 per cent while the Los Angeles Clippers have the second-most expensive tickets at just over $300 on average. Dennard, 24, reported to the Lancaster County Adult Detention Facility Saturday morning, according to corrections officers with the Lincoln facility who spoke on condition of anonymity because of jail policy. The former Nebraska football standout will have to serve at least 35 days, after credit for good behaviour and the three days hes already spent in jail. In April, a judge sentenced Dennard to two years probation, 30 days in jail and community service for assaulting an officer and resisting arrest outside a Lincoln bar days before he was choseen in the NFL Draft.dddddddddddd Dennard had been projected to be a middle-round NFL draft pick, but the Patriots took him in the seventh round. The judge later extended his probation to three years and doubled the jail time after Dennard was again arrested in Lincoln on suspicion of drunken driving in July. That charge was later dismissed in exchange for Dennards no contest plea for refusing to submit to a chemical test. He was fined $500 and placed on probation for that offence. Dennard finished this season, his second in the NFL, with 40 tackles (34 solo, 6 assists) and one interception. The Patriots fell just short of the Super Bowl, losing to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game. ' ' '

San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros have bolstered their bullpen with the signing of right-hander Luke Gregerson. The two sides agreed to a three-year, $18.5 million contract on Wednesday, according to USA Today. Houston landed a quality arm in the 30-year-old Gregerson after failing to sign relievers Andrew Miller and David Robertson. Gregerson pitched for the Oakland Athletics in 2014, going 5-5 with three saves and a 2.12 earned run average in 72 appearances. Campbellville, ON - Champion colt Hes Watching will start from post 7 in Saturdays 31st edition of the $1 million North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack. The 10-horse field of 3-year-old pacers will leave the starting gate at approximately 10:14pm et. Co-owned and trained by David Menary, Hes Watching will be driven by Tim Tetrick and is the 5-1 fourth selection in the field. "Im happy with (post) seven," said Menary on Tuesday. "It could have been a lot worse. Well make the best of it. He can race any way. I dont think anybody is going to wire this field." The Dan Patch Award winner was second in an elimination race last Saturday behind Tellitlikeitis, this weeks 3-1 morning line favorite. "(In the elim), our colt did a lot of work, a big second quarter, putting up big fractions, they raced the whole way. I think it was the toughest elim," Menary explained. "Last year, he did all he could do, two world records, six track records, every-sized track, every which way. Hes just a hulk of a little horse." Hes Watching, 2013 champion 2-year-old male pacer, won all eight starts last year and banked $291,722. Jimmy Takter trains both Tellitlikeitis and 4-1 third pick Lyonssomewhere. Winners of two of last weeks three elimination heats, Tellitlikeitis will be driven by Brett Miller from post 3 and Lyonssomewhere will leave from post 4 with Corey Callahan driving. "He has wicked speed and hell take you to where you want to go in the mile," Brett Miller said about Tellitlikeitis." McWicked, winner of the third elimination race, is the 7-2 second choice and will start from post 2 with David Miller driving. The colt is a five time winner from 14 career starts for earnings of $244,707. "He was absolutely awesome (in his elim)," said trainer Casie Coleman on Tuesday. "It was the fourth time Ive raced him and every time he keeps getting better and better. Ive been extremely impressed with him. He came out of the elim great, hes sound, healthy, his blood is perfect. This horse, so far, knock on wood, hes given me no issues. "It looks like theres a lot of speed in the race. My horse can race either way. Id prefer him coming off a helmet but hes very versatile." Ryan Getzlaf certainly got them started in the second. Getzlaf scored the first two goals in the second, and Teemu Selanne scored the go-ahead goal late in the period as the Anaheim Ducks beat the Nashville Predators 4-3 Thursday night.TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers found an unusual way to lose Sunday. This time they had too many men on the field, taking them out of field-goal range in the final minute of a 14-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.Thats how 2-10 football teams play. They find a way to lose it in the end, coach Lovie Smith said. When you make dumb, stupid penalties like that throughout the game, it will bite you at the end, which it did.Andy Dalton shrugged off three first-half interceptions, and the Bengals (8-3-1) weathered 10 penalties and an ill-advised onside kick that cost them momentum after taking the lead in the second half to win on the road for the third consecutive week. The Bucs were flagged 13 times in their seventh straight home loss, and the last one was the most costly.Down by one point with 2:01 left, the Bucs drove with no timeouts left. Josh McCowns 29-yard completion to Bobby Rainey got them into Bengal territory, and McCown connected with Louis Murphy on a 21-yard gain to the Cincinnati 20 with 12 seconds left.As Tampa Bay scrambled to line up and spike the ball, an animated Bengals coach Marvin Lewis came off the sideline and threw the red flag to challenge the previous play.Officials initially announced the Bengals could not challenge, because coaches are not allowed to request any in the final two minutes. The replay official, however, had already decided to look at the play, and found the Bucs indeed lined up with 12 players.I should have just called timeout and made them look at it, Lewis said. Thatss a big, big miss.dddddddddddd We were trying to match up the personnel and there was one too many (Buccaneers). The ball was moved back to the 46, an additional 14 seconds were added to the clock, and Tampa Bay turned the ball over on downs.McCown, who completed 15 of 29 passes for 190 yards and one interception, said that the Bucs had an extra tackle on the field. We were in a bit of a muddle-huddle there, and guys were on and off, he said. Thats what hurts so much about the last drive. We felt like we did what we needed to do in the situation, but a penalty got us. And they got us all day.Dalton ran for a 5-yard TD in the second quarter, then threw 13 yards to A.J. Green to put the Bengals ahead 14-10 late in the third. But just as the Bengals looked as if they were taking control, Cincinnati tried an onside kick that Tampa Bays Orie Lemon not only recovered, but returned to the Bengals 31, but Tampa Bay settled for Patrick Murrays 42-yard field goal to pull within 14-13.Johnthan Banks intercepted Dalton on the first play from scrimmage and returned the ball 32 yards to the Bengals 9 to set up a field goal for a 3-0 lead. Another Cincinnati miscue — a penalty on defensive tackle Geno Atkins for grabbing McCowns facemask on a third-down sack — extended the drive Doug Martin finished with his TD run to put the Bucs up 10-0.It was the fourth time the Bucs have led at halftime in their past five games. They won only one of them.___Online:AP NFL website: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '

WINNIPEG -- Buck Pierce wasnt out of football long. On Tuesday, the former quarterback retired following nine CFL campaigns. Three days later, he returned to Winnipeg -- where he spent three-plus seasons -- as the Blue Bombers running backs coach. Rookie head coach Mike OShea said Friday adding Pierce to his staff was a no-brainer. "When Buck retired, it came up as part of my multiple conversations per day with Kyle (Bombers GM Kyle Walters)," OShea said. "Then it went to how good a guy Buck is, his experience and the value of adding a CFL quarterback to our staff. "The running backs position hadnt been filled and its an entry-level position for guys who want to get into coaching and learn the daily rigours of becoming a professional football coach. Kyle and I got on the phone with Buck and he was very receptive. He wants to coach, he loves the CFL game and it just made sense on all levels to have Buck Pierce on our staff." The six-foot-two, 195-pound Pierce began his CFL career with the B.C. Lions, spending five seasons in Vancouver before signing with Winnipeg as a free agent following the 09 season. Pierce, 32, remained with the Bombers until last September when he was traded back to B.C. Injuries limited Pierce to 67 starts in 125 career CFL games although he did post a solid 64.2 completion percentage, with 76 TDs and 63 interceptions. He also averaged 7.2 yards per rushing attempt with 14 touchdowns while also committing 18 fumbles. Despite being plagued by an assortment of injuries, there was never any question about Pierces heart, toughness or character. Regardless of the ailment, he always returned to the field for his teammates. And embarking on a coaching career in Winnipeg makes perfect sense. Not only did Pierce play for the Bombers, his fiancee is also from the Manitoba capital. But OShea, a former standout linebacker who became Torontos special-teams co-ordinator following his stellar career with the Argonauts, said becoming a coach can present challenges for some former players. "Im sure Buck recognized early in his career the coaches were there before he was and were there after he left," OShea said. "Its always an eye-opener in terms of the planning and the number of tasks that are involved. "But as the staff comes together in the off-season and gets going through the daily routine and has the specific tasks theyre charged with Im sure hell get it all figured out quickly." OShea believes adding a former CFL quarterback to his coaching staff will provide added benefits as well. "These guys play quarterback for a reason, they have the ability to take in all that information, process it and then put it all back out there," OShea said. "Hell obviously do some work figuring out drills and finding out what his position group needs on a daily basis but hell also give that group a different perspective and understanding about how other positions are looking at the game and not just through the running backs eyes. "Any time a player can gain a better understanding of what the other positions are thinking out there is a good thing. That kind of knowledge only helps players produce." Notes: The Bombers signed quarterback Robert Marve and receiver Mario Urrutia on Friday. The six-foot-one, 212-pound Marve played collegiately at Miami (2007-08) and Purdue (2010-2012). The six-foot-six, 238-pound Urrutia was a 2008 seventh-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals out of the University of Louisville. He also spent time with the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as the Arena Football Leagues Utah Blaze. Kyle Turris Jersey .com) - The Calgary Flames are spoilers once again.   es the Houston Texans had the No. 1 overall pick in the dr
Posted by: Bellroll33 - 20-08-2019, 03:49 PM - Forum: General Light Novels - No Replies

HOUSTON - The first two times the Houston Texans had the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, they chose quarterback David Carr and defensive end Mario Williams. Odds are that theyll use this years top choice on one of those two positions again. South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is widely considered the best player available in this years draft. Pairing him with 2012 Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt could give the Texans the best 1-2 pass-rushing punch in the NFL. The problem is that while Houston could use another game-changing defensive player, the need at quarterback is more dire. The Texans traded Matt Schaub in the off-season after a terrible year in which he was benched after six games. The Texans signed veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick in the off-season, but he probably isnt the long-term solution to their quarterback woes. Several talented quarterbacks in this draft have questions attached to them concerning whether they are cant-miss prospects worthy of the No. 1 pick. Considered the best of the crop are Texas A&Ms Johnny Manziel, Louisvilles Teddy Bridgewater and Blake Bortles of Central Florida. Some worry that Manziels size will be a detriment in the NFL. Bridgewater had a bad pro day. Bortles has taken criticism because of his limited mobility. Manziel is somewhat of a folk hero in Texas after winning the Heisman Trophy in 2012. Billboards imploring the Texans to "Keep Johnny Football in Texas" dot the freeways around Houston, and Manziel, of course, has said hed love to play here. Though the team is under different management than in 2006, Houston is unlikely to let public sentiment about not letting the homegrown player get away sway its decision. The Texans passed on former Texas quarterback Vince Young, who grew up in Houston and led the Longhorns to a national title, in favour of Williams the last time they had the first pick. Houston general manager Rick Smith did say this week his team would consider trading out of the top spot. "If we take the first pick, we know who we want," Smith said. "(But) we are obviously open to moving out of the first pick, if in fact there is an opportunity for us to do so and if we think that is in the best interest of the organization." Five things to know about the Texans heading into the draft: LATE-ROUND QBs: If the Texans do use their first pick on Clowney, recent history has shown they could still pick up a solid (or better) starting quarterback later in the draft. San Franciscos Colin Kaepernick was chosen in the second round in 2011, and Seattles Russell Wilson was taken in the third round a year later. "I think theres an idea of a traditional quarterback that is successful in the NFL and I think those two examples are guys that dont necessarily fit the ideal mode. And I think theyve also given people some confidence that you dont necessarily need to have a traditional type of quarterback to be successful in our league," Smith said. CANT GET ENOUGH: Though Smith shied away from discussing specific needs of his team on draft day, he did acknowledge one thing. "There are two positions that I never think you can have too many of: corners and tackles," he said. NEW PROCESS: Smith is adjusting to new coach Bill OBrien after working on the draft with Gary Kubiak, who was fired in December, for the last seven seasons. "The opportunity to step outside of that comfort zone, and learn something, gives me a chance to grow personally and professionally," Smith said. "That was a fun part of it." NO LOVE FOR Defence: Williams was the last defensive player selected with the first overall pick when Houston chose him in 2006. Before that, the last player on that side of the ball to go first was Penn State defensive end Courtney Brown to the Browns in 2000. The Texans have overwhelmingly gone with defence in the early rounds, choosing defenders with 14 of their 17 first- and second-round picks since 2004. FINE WITH THE MOVE: This years draft was pushed back from its usual time in April to May because Radio City Music Hall was unavailable. Smith was perfectly happy with the change for at least this year. "To have the first pick, the extra time has been good," Smith said. "I think that I enjoyed the schedule and the rhythm of the draft in April and would probably want to see it moved back, but Im enjoying it the fact that its in May this year for our selfish purposes." David Njoku Jersey . -- Jane Kish stopped all 25 shots she faced as the Weyburn Gold Wings blanked the Sudbury Lady Wolves 3-0 on Friday to advance to the gold-medal game at the Esso Cup. Left-handed reliever Boone Logan agreed to a $16.5 million, three-year contract on Friday, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press. http://www.brownsrookiestore.com/Browns-Odell-Beckham-Jr-Jersey/ . Lack replaced an injured Roberto Luongo late in the first period then watched defenceman Chris Tanev score the winning goal midway through the third as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Jets 2-1 in a tight NHL game. Myles Garrett Youth Jersey . Dallas (2-0-1) sits atop the Western Conference with an MLS-best seven points. Castillo opened the scoring in the 71st minute off a Mauro Diaz set piece, and Watson outran defender Tony Lochhead on a long ball and then juked goalkeeper Ian Kennedy for the eventual game-winner in the 78th minute. Austin Seibert Jersey . Rajne Soderberg, the director of the Stockholm Diamond League event, said in an email Friday that the ban still holds. Euromeetings, the organization representing Europes top track events, "will continue to recommend that members do not invite athletes who we believe cause disrepute to our meetings and our sport.Champ Bailey had a free agent visit with the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN.
